Waddy

This was taken some time back in Borneo.

She’s the daughter of a boatman we stayed with, along the Kinabatangan River. Waddy has a twin sister called Irra. When her mother was in labour, the family was rushing to the hospital down the river and they spotted an extremely rare river dolphin called the Irrawaddy.
They were named after the elusive animal.

I promised her I’ll return to visit her a few years later when she’s older. I hope she’ll still remember me then.
