Call Waiting

From my India trip earlier this year.

India is on track to 1.159 billion mobile subscribers by 2013, exceeding China’s. The growth rate will see employment for 10 million people in the industry by 2012 and is expected to reach a size of US$78.3 billion in the same period.

Here is one man on the phone.

Burning Waves

This was taken a few months back in Phuket.

The sky burnt with glorious colors for about 30 seconds then faded to darkness almost as fast. Very spectacular.

Boats

Someone recently told me black and white pictures look depressing. Perhaps.

Sunset Rocks

Taken at Lower Pierce Reservoir.

Out At Sea

When I saw this, I tried to imagine how peaceful it would be out there on the boat.

Then I realized the clouds weren’t going to hold out that much longer.

I changed my mind pretty quickly when it started raining minutes later.

Beach Boy

I spent the last weekend in Bintan.

If you’ve never been there, Bintan is an Indonesian island with resorts that are unashamedly lacking in character but makes it up with rather pretty beaches. From the “International” buffet lunches to the “cultural show” performed over dinner, this place feels like a retirement home on steroids.

Nonetheless, it was a good break away from real life just spending time in the pool, getting a massage and catching up on lost sleep.

I got this shot just as the sun was calling it a day and as I walked along the beach, I saw this boy who couldn’t seem to get enough of the waves.

Grout

Wanted to test how shallow a f/1.4 aperture really is. The perception of depth looks a little warped. Pretty bokeh in the background though. What do you think?

Note to self: f/2.0 and above is probably more usable.

Grumpy

This furry friend wanders around the estate and can usually be found most mornings in this position, at this patch of green with this facial expression.

U Mean The World To Me

Rainy weekend spoilt all my plans to go shoot so had to dig into archives for this one.

Taken at the Night festival a few weeks ago. I liked this installation a lot.

Scaffolding II

Second shot of yesterday’s subject.

Scaffolding I

Saw this a few weeks back in Singapore. My 17mm focal length is maxed and could only capture this tiny section of the entire superstructure. Can you guess what and where this is?  Come back tomorrow for another closer shot.

First Date

Not sure what you think, but their body language tells me it’s probably their awkward first date.

I also like how their shadows are cast in at least 8 different parts of the tunnel.

Diva

From the Diva Siva show taken on Saturday night.

Through The Glass

Taken during the Night Festival on Friday night. This was snapped while waiting in line for what I considered my favorite performance of the night. It’s a show called  Diva Siva, a drag cabaret that celebrates the Fa’afafine culture.

Dead Fly

Woke up and found this dude on my Macbook Pro.

Initially, I treated this pic with color but it looked “normal” so tweaked it to black and white instead. I kinda prefer this look actually.

What do you think?

After The Race

Taken last Sunday after everyone left. The waters are peaceful again. For the next few months, at least.

Some Assembly Required

These boys put in the most work to make the races happen.

Easy

That’s the only word we’re waiting for the coach to say when we’re rowing. It means the ordeal is over and you look up to see whether you’ve won or lost.

Had a race yesterday and our team finished 3rd in a rather tough category.

I returned today to snap a few pictures and got this one. I know exactly what those rowers were feeling right there.

Relaxed

Starting a new project today with this pic. Lately, I’ve been fascinated by people’s hands. Sometimes by looking at the lines and veins, I wonder what those hands have held, who they have touched and where they have been.

This belongs to a colleague and fellow rower. He’s one of the rare few who doesn’t take everything too seriously.

Flying

This picture, and the past two were taken at East Coast Cable-ski Park last Sunday.

Little Lights

I really like the bokeh in the background.
