Those were the words Jane Goodall wrote to me. I had the immense privilege of meeting this great woman this afternoon when she came by our little island to promote her Roots and Shoots initiative. She is the most down-to-earth and humble person I’ve ever met, and she was extremely patient when we had to retake a few shots despite looking really tired and drained from a full day of activities.
She reminded us that we can all make a difference from the littlest things we do in our everyday lives – what we eat, what we wear, what we buy etc. By being informed and most importantly, taking a stand, we can all contribute to better the world around us. If possible, use recycled paper. If possible, take public transport. If possible, don’t buy products that profits the wildlife trade. In my life, I’ve already given up shark’s fin soup, I’ve started to consciously recycle, I’ve getting into the habit of using less plastic bags. I don’t change overnight, but every time I make a choice, I take something back for the environment.
It’s time to take a stand and make a difference in this world. How are you going to change the world today?
